South of Bulawayo, Matobo Hills National Park is characterised by stunning scenery, huge granite outcrops and beautiful birdlife. It’s rich in cultural and historical and cultural too, with viewing bushmen rock art and Cecil Rhodes’ grave alongside the chance to track rhino on foot. It’s a less intensive game viewing area than some in Zimbabwe but well worth the diversion for a night or two.
