Damaraland’s remote wilderness comprises open plains, large rocky granite outcrops and mountainous peaks. This stark desert region is home to rare wildlife including desert elephant and desert rhino. Alongside these desert adapted species is Twyfelfontein – a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Bushmen Rock Art.
Other interesting diversions include the Petrified Forest, dating back millions of years and Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain, also home to ancient rock engravings. It’s a fascinating region best explored on game drives and on foot.
