Tswalu

Covering 1,200 square kilometres, Tswalu is the largest private reserve in South Africa. A superb regeneration project over the last 25 years has restored this once overgrazed farmland to an ecologically significant and unique landscape rich in biodiversity. Just three private safari camps grace the property, allowing a very limited number of guests to explore this beautiful wilderness.

The reserve is famous for its magnificent black-maned lion, cheetah, wild dog, black and white rhino, and habituated meerkats. Of the more elusive species also found here are aardvark, pangolin and aardwolf. Guests can explore on foot, on a vehicle, on horseback. It’s a very special place and well worth adding to a South African safari.
