Rift Valley/Naivasha

Dramatic Rift Valley escarpments and lakes tinged pink by huge flocks of flamingos characterise this beautiful region. A safari here tends to concentrate less on wildlife (though it is found in certain areas) but more on the scenery and bird life, with a handful of lovely individual-style properties to choose from.

Lake Naivasha is well known and easily accessible from Nairobi and activities here include boat trips on the lake along with day trips to Lake Nakuru and Hells Gate national parks and Eburu Forest Reserve. Lake Baringo is the most northerly and an important stop for migratory birds. Inter-linked lakes Borogia, Nakuru and Elementeita form the UNESCO Kenya Lake System in the Great Rift Valley which is the single most important site for the lesser flamingo anywhere in the world.
