Kenya’s Indian Ocean coastline provides plenty of opportunity to relax pre and post safari, or even for a beach holiday in its own right. Head north to Lamu Island where white sandy beaches and the jumbled streets of Shela village will enchant. To the south there are a host of options around Malindi, while further south still, the Diani beach area provides plenty of choice.
There are a few resort style hotels, but the real focus of the Kenyan beach are small boutique style properties and some fabulous private houses. Generally tucked away in quieter spots, with barefoot luxury the order of the day, they combine perfectly with a safari.
