This large area in northern Botswana is hugely diverse with the riverine forests, marshlands and open plains attracting plenty of wildlife. Particularly famous for the elephant herds that congregate around the Savuti marshes at the end of the dry season, there are also wild dog, various antelope species, lion, buffalo, crocodile and leopard calling this region home. Choosing to stay in one of the private concessions which border the main Chobe National Park is a good option, allowing for peaceful safari away from some of the busier areas.
